El-Beth-El Temple was founded on August 4th, 1985 by Pastor Henry G. Sims, Sr. The Church initially met in the Pastor's basement.
On May 30th, 1986, the Lord blessed the El-Beth-El Temple congregation with it's own building, formerly the Playmates Nursery at 15801 Schaefer in Detroit. Remodeling began almost immediately. New carpeting and drapes were purchased in the spring of 1988. Inside storm windows were purchase in the fall of that year. New pews and church furniture were purchased the following year.
Also, during 1989, two adjacent lots were purchased for parking. The parking lot was paved the following year and storm drains were added. A security fence was also added around the parking lot.
A lighted sign was installed in 1991 and a gable roof in 1992.
In need of additional space, El-Beth-El Temple purchased a larger facility, originally a heating and cooling factory and offices, in 2005. Down the street from it's current location, El-Beth-El Temple will renovate the factory space into their new sanctuary and then move in. |
