Elder James Moore was a friend to Elder Louis Andrews Sr., the previous Pastor of Walker Memorial Church of God in Christ. He was entrusted with the task of carrying on in Elder Andrew's stead. At the failing health of Pastor Andrews, Elder James E. Moore was appointed Pastor of Walker Memorial by our Prelate Bishop P. A. Brooks in 1994. The congregation had fluctuated during this transition time (between 15 to 30 members). But the Lord saw fit to bless this ministry. Under the direction and teaching of Pastor Moore, the congregation has flourished. The congregation has now filled and overflowed its present sanctuary.

Prior to the church construction, tent revivals were held on this hill. The church was constructed in 1957.
